Vicky Cristina Barcelona | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Deborah Ross The Spectator This is a slight film, a minor Allen film, a bit of a footnote, but it's warm and engaging and isn't Matchpoint, Scoop or Cassandra's Dream, which has to be a mercy. Aug 29, 2018 Full Review Vicky Cristina Barcelona | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online Penelope's performance is a little sterotypoical, but fantastic... Rated: B+ Sep 12, 2017 Full Review Vicky Cristina Barcelona | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Jonathan Romney Film Comment Magazine Allen seems uninterested in pushing his material beyond impersonally generic, or even in thinking things through. Feb 6, 2014 Full Review Vicky Cristina Barcelona | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review [Rebecca Hall] steals the movie from the trio of well-known stars on the poster. Rated: 3.5/4 Sep 6, 2023 Full Review Vicky Cristina Barcelona | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies The movie is never as funny or as clever as it tries to be, and it ultimately falls apart in its nonsensical third act. Rated: 2/5 Aug 21, 2022 Full Review Vicky Cristina Barcelona | Rotten Tomatoes (6) David Walsh World Socialist Web Site The worst aspect of Vicky Cristina Barcelona is its attitude toward art and creativity, which is entirely superficial. Oscar J All actors are really playing well there parts. Especially Penélope Cruz Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/01/24 Full Review Charles W If you enjoyed the movie Barcelona that came out in 1994 you can give this a miss. It's not necessarily terrible just a marginal remake. I had to fast forward through scenes with Rebecca Hall as she was astoundingly bad to be in a movie with so many good actors. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/11/24 Full Review Marc Z A very uncharacteristic Woody Allen movie which does not take place in New York, and it not particularly comedic, but is very good. The cast is terrific. A young Scarlett Johannson stars as a follow up to the Steamy Allen thriller, Match Point. Javier Bardem is great as the central figure of this romantic adventure. Rebecca Hall and Penelope Cruz are great. This is a very interesting movie. The scenery and the landscapes are beautiful. This is a fun, and unusual time. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review Gigs V An enjoyable film. Charming performances. Nothing interesting in terms of plot. Fairly predictable. I like that it had a brisk pace to it. Didn't overstay its welcome. Gorgeous locales. Pretty people to look at. The plot wasn't silly, but it wasn't pretentious or over-serious either. No, there's no deeper message or moral to the story, but do we need that? As a piece of 90 minute entertainment, I thought it did a good job. Probably won't be watching it again in a hurry. Helps that Penelope Cruz was an absolute firecracker (performance-wise, and looks, of course). Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Duane P A very well done done film in every aspect...The characters were well developed and the fact that they were all deeply flawed made them believable...The film blended multiple characters' internal struggles into a fluid tapestry, all working together...You liked and disliked every one of the main characters...The narration was very fitting of the presentation of the film...Somehow, you rooted for the bad guys as the bad guys weren't really bad, and you really didn't feel bad for the innocent bystanders...Sometimes life is flawed and it's ok if every story doesn't have a fairy tale ending...I would categorize this as the epitome of what an Independent rom-com should be...Masterful performances by all involved...If you couldn't feel the emotions, you probably live a numb life... Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/22/23 Full Review Mad H The premise of the movie is great and so is the acting. All of this was utterly destroyed by a moronic narrator/narration that dominates the entire film. The narrator has an annoying voice and the narration is an absolute insult to the audience's intelligence over explaining everything taking place in the movie. Whoever decided to destroy the watchability of this film by adding the idiot narrator should be run out of Hollywood.
