As tertiary education becomes much less affordable for GenZ - due mainly to spiralling tuition costs - many young people are turning to trades. Very smart move as colleges have vastly overinflated their value. Tertiary education does not guarantee GenZs work, and educators increasingly spent more time on political and "social justice" issues over education, disenchanting at least conservatives who represent about half of all students, and doing a disservice to liberal students who are increasingly taught groupthink vs. learning that different viewpoints result in a better world. In contrast learning a trade means instant success and much less political angst - just ask any plumber or electrician who drives around in a $75,000 vehicle, has a speedboat, and starts to charge you when he/she leaves their home vs. arrive at your residence. https://lnkd.in/eaq_G-yn

From August 2020:I have to ask why I do not have a full-time teaching position yet, is it...-because there are quotas and districts must interview a percentage of candidates outside of the immediate area/district with no intent of hiring such individuals?-because hiring is based on budget not on the right candidate for the job: educated, experienced, and certified-because recruiting is not done, only hiring over the summer months hence little to no time for interviews, spouse notice at his/her employment, student record transfer, home search, moving, etc-because of my age?-because I am not originally from here or there?-because I did not graduate from the school district?-because I am not related to anyone in the district?-because of the amount of experience I have?-because of the number of certifications I have?-because I am a 2nd career educator?-because I am a parent?-because I care too much?-because I continue to seek out learning?-because I advocate for better?-because I grew up in central Troy (8th street)?-and because I believe in equity for all children?Why?
